About the Hypermobile Hiker

Hey, there! My name is Ciaran (pronounced KEER-in), and I’m a long-time hiker, forager, and gardener. I also have hypermobility and have dealt with chronic pain for most of my life.

In 2023, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. That summer, my body was in so much pain that I struggled to leave my house; every time I did something outdoors, I’d get a flareup and be in bed for days. I spent a lot of trial and error learning to listen to my body and recognize both my limits and needs.

I started Hypermobile Hiker for other folx like me, those who want to enjoy nature and movement even thought they hurt. It’s my hope that this site gives you a launching point for getting out there.
